Cycling Without Age
If you've been in Cedarburg over the past several summers, chances are you've encountered the delightful sight of smiling seniors sitting in the front of a trishaw bike enjoying the feel of the wind in their hair as their pilot pedals them around town. Thanks to the vision and commitment of the Cycling Without Age committee, many generous donors from the Cedarburg community, and our AMAZING volunteer pilot team, we have had this unique opportunity to provide our tenants and residents the simple pleasure of a bike ride on a summer day.
We are looking for local businesses willing to host "Destination Rides" where bike passengers would roll up throughout an afternoon for a "tasting" or some samples, assisted by our staff and pilots. Past years we have been hosted by Cedar Creek Winery, The Stilt House, Amy's Candy, Delicately Delicious, and the Stage Coach Inn! Please contact us at 262.512.2838 for more information!

Cycling Without Age is an organization that originated in Denmark and now has affiliations around the world, including right here at Lasata Senior Living Campus. Lasata has two trishaw bikes that were acquired through community fundraising in 2016. Volunteer pilots receive training each spring that includes road safety instruction provided by the Cedarburg Police Department. We have had up to 20 trained pilots, some offering a handful of rides, some weekly, and most active pilot has put in nearly 150 hours! Along the way many stories are shared as well as lots of laughter and friendship. It is truly debatable who enjoys the rides more - the pilots or the seniors!
Regular use for four seasons necessitated the purchase of several new tires, brakes and two replacement batteries at a cost of $800 each. All of our bike servicing was generously donated by Extreme Bike and Ski in Thiensville.
In order to be prepared for future maintenance needs it is necessary to replenish our Cycling Without Age fund. We would like to have $3000 on hand for anticipated servicing and repairs. If you would like to donate, be a sponsor, or you would like additional information, please contact Kristen Sonnenberg at 262-512-2838. The Lasata Senior Living Campus is owned by Ozaukee County and is government tax exempt, so your generous contribution is tax deductible. Every dollar goes directly to making a happy memory for a senior in your own neighborhood!
