• National weather warnings and forecasts for your local community are available at the NOAA website. 
• Track stream flows and rainfall amounts for your local community with continuously updated gauge readings - USGS website
• Be prepared with flood safety and other hazard information from FEMA (The Federal Emergency Management Agency)

• Construction in the floodplain usually requires a special permit from your city or the County. Special requirements apply when you are substantially improving your existing building (link is to the FEMA definition.)  Check with your city's permitting office to learn about regulations specific to your area.
